as featured on ‘Lyn’s Picks’ for STAGEDOOR by Lyn Gardner

Glasgow 1998: An art student pulls pints in a miserable pub to pay her way through art school, struggling to appease her tutors and find meaning in her life and work, she is constantly on the lookout for new inspiration.

Little does she know her problematic ex lover is about to walk through the door…

Can she use the trauma he has inflicted to make her work better, or does she need to go further and take revenge?

Weeping Woman is a feminist body-horror set in the visual art world that asks us: Can women ever have ownership over their own narratives – especially when the female body and experience has been appropriated by men for so long?

Writer and performer of Weeping Woman, Ellen Bannerman, trained on the BA Acting course at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. She wrote Weeping Woman shortly after attending the Royal Court Introductory Group in 2022. Most recently, the play reached the final round of The Verity Bargate Award 2024.
